Seeking Assistant Karate Instructor

Ichiban Karate are looking for a passionate, reliable and enthusiastic karateka to act as an assistant instructor in some of our weekly karate sessions.

Applicants Must:

  • be 18yrs +

  • Hold at least 4th Kyu grade

  • Be able to commit to teaching 1-2 sessions a week on either Tues or Wed

  • Have strong communication and inter-personal skills

  • Be passionate about karate and have an interest in teaching children.

Desirable skills/ attributes:

  • Previous experience teaching / coaching u18s

  • Competitive karate experience

  • 1st Aid Training / Certification

  • Background in Shukokai karate

Details:

Initially we will be looking for you to act as an assistant instructor in our classes offered at charity, Gipton Together in Gipton on a Tuesday(7-8pm) and Wednesday (5-7:30pm). You will be teaching children from the ages of 4 -17ys. Ideally candidates should be available both evenings, however if not we might be able to work around this for the right candidate. You will earn between £12-20 a session depending on skill and experience.

 

You will be joining an expanding karate club that also runs classes at Ichiban Leeds (Meanwood Road) and as an assistant instructor would be able to enjoy free karate training at the dojo on Saturdays and Mondays. Ichiban Karate is a family friendly karate club offering classes to both adults and children and also has a growing competition squad that attends competitions around the UK regularly. 

 

Transport to and from Gipton, from Leeds City Centre can be provided, however access to your own transport will be desirable.

 

The successful candidate will be given full training on how and what to teach and you will be taught teaching skills to help motivate and inspire students.

 

Whilst we follow a Shukokai syllabus, we do not mind what your background style of karate is, and we’ll provide training on adapting your knowledge to our syllabus. Willingness to learn and adapt are essential.

 

In time we will also offer the opportunity to take 1st Aid training and other training such as refs courses.

 

Exact details on the training and training schedule will be given to applicants.

 

It is envisaged that in due course the position will become one of a full-time certified instructor as part of our expanding organisation. All necessary training to be a full-time instructor will be provided.
